We encourage all our volunteers to become a registered Science and Engineering Ambassador (SEA) with STEMNET to ensure that children and ambassadors will all be safe in their experiences with each other.
To become a registered ambassador you just need to fill out a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) form to allow a CRB check to be completed then attend a 2 hour training session. If there is a group of you STEMNET will come to you to do your training.
Excellence in Schools Outreach – did you know…

Diplomas - Article by Construction Skills
There is something new and exciting happening in education! – A new qualification called a DIPLOMA is being introduced ……read on for more
information and to find out how you can get involved with the Construction and
Built Environment Diploma……
What is a Diploma?
Diplomas have been developed to give young people aged 14 to 19 the skills they need to succeed in their working life or further education. This has been done with the help of employers (through the relevant sector skills councils) in order to equip young people with the employability skills they need to progress
their careers.
They provide a rounded education which combines classroom study with learning in a practical environment. They are a unique qualification for young people interested in sector-related learning. Diplomas have been designed in partnership with employers and in response to their views.
All Diploma students study essential functional skills in English, Maths and ICT alongside their chosen discipline. They do a project, specialist learning in a related subject and at least ten days work experience. These qualifications
have been developed by employers, so practical, work-related learning is at the heart of the qualification.
Why should you get involved?
There has never been a better time for employers of all sizes to get involved in
education so please share this with your line manager.
Diplomas will help give you better prepared and more knowledgeable young employees with those skills that all employers need, such as how
to think creatively, problem-solve, communicate, work independently, and how to work as part of a team.
